Portals Vells — sea caves and turquoise coves
The easy first bay — clear water and cool sea caves, barely half an hour from the marina.
Captain and crew usually reply within the hour, and always within 24 hours. Crew and VAT included. Gratuity is never expected.
Twenty minutes past the marinas of the southwest and the coast softens into a run of shallow, impossibly clear bays. Portals Vells is the one nearly everyone loves first: sheltered, sandy-bottomed and calm, with the old stone sea caves carved into the headland at one end.
It is the shortest hop we make — around 35 minutes from Club de Mar — which makes it the perfect anchor for a half-day. Swim straight off the swim platform into water you can see your toes in, take the tender or a paddleboard across to the caves, and let the crew handle the rest. Because it is so close, there is no rush: a morning here and lunch on board, or a lazy afternoon and a swim as the light goes gold.
